Ashley McCarthy, a Health Navigator Program Coordinator with Western Maine Community Action, will be at Region 9 Adult Education on Tuesday, January 24th, from 6pm to 8pm to meet with community members and provide them with free help applying for Health Insurance on the Marketplace and to discuss their options. The presentation covers information about the Affordable Health Care Act, Marketplace Insurance, and information for free assistance with applications and plan selection. They also have a program that assists families with children apply for MaineCare.

September 6th, 7th, and 8th is Fall Orientation.

Sessions are from 8am-12pm.

New students must attend TWO sessions

Ride the Van to Region 9 Adult Ed

 

Ride the Van to Region 9 

Western Maine Transportation provides Adult Ed students a ride to school!  Transportation may have been a problem in the past, but no longer thanks to our new service.  Rides are only $1.50.  You must be an enrolled student to ride the van, so please call us at 207-364-2012 to sign up for an orientation session.

HiSet or High School Diploma Info

Region 9 Adult Education offers 2 options for obtaining your high school degree.  A high school diploma or the Hi-Set, a replacement for the GED.  You might be amazed how fast you could obtain your degree.  If you need assistance getting ready to take the exams we have several ways to help - give us a call at 207-364-2012.

Road to College

College Transition
Dreaming of going to college, but not sure where to start? Have you started college, but haven't completed it? Or do you need skill building to pass your entrance exams?  Think it has been too long since you were in school to think about getting more education? This program is for anyone who wants to go to college, but needs a bit of help getting there. Improve your math, reading, and writing skills, learn how to apply for college and what financial aid is available.  Do some career exploration to make sure you are looking at the career that fits you.  To enroll please come to an orientation session.

Welcome to our website!

Welcome to the Region 9 Adult Education website! The site has many new and exciting features designed to make locating and registering for courses much easier.

Some of these new and exciting features include:

  • Search for courses: You can now search for courses from our program as well as from other adult education programs across the state. You can also browse our courses by category if you prefer.
  • Register online: You no longer need to come into our office or mail us your registration for some courses. When you see the "Add to Cart" button on any course, that means you can register and pay for the course online in a few easy steps. Of course, you can also call, walk-in, or mail in your registration if you prefer.
  • Latest news and events: Read our latest news, updates, happenings and events inside our News & Events section. You can also subscribe to our News & Events using RSS.
  • Frequently Asked Questions: Find answers to important questions about our program, schedules, registering, and the adult education system by searching or browsing our frequently asked questions section.

Our website is a part of the new Maine Adult Education Portal, sponsored and managed by the Maine Adult Education Association. When you visit the new MAEA website online at http://www.maineadulted.org, you can search for courses and programs statewide to find the perfect class closest to where you work or live.

Region 9 Adult & Community Education is your Community Connection for information on how you can use Maine's expanding high-speed, broadband internet connectivity to help you meet educational goals, enrich your life, obtain health information, access governmental services and enhance economic and community development. Contact our office and arrange a special presentation on the importance of high speed interent for your civic or social organization.

 

Look for this symbol in our catalog. It identifies courses and workshops where you'll learn about high-speed internet connectivity. This community education program is presented in cooperation with the Maine Department of Education and the ConnectME Authority. Learn more at www.maine.gov/connectme and check the speed on your internet connection.
